Time: 9:30am - 4:00pm

About this event:
Research that has helped to reduce inequalities will be showcased at a one-day conference being hosted by Leeds Social Sciences Institute (LSSI) in the Great Hall, University of Leeds.
The event, which is being held as part of LSSI’s inderdisciplinary debate series, will also provide opportunities to discuss the role research can play in reducing inequality. It will have a particular focus on challenges such as ethnic and religious inequalities; mobility inclusion; welfare and mental health.
The conference is aimed at local, regional and national delegates and will build on work by the University’s Inequalities Research Network to develop partnerships with policymakers, practitioners, third sector organisations and service users. These partnerships are helping to identify current inequality challenges that interdisciplinary coproduced research could help address.
In addition to other nationally recognised speakers there will be contributions from University of Leeds academics Dr Ghazala Mir (Health Sciences), Shenaz Banglawala (mend), Professor Sarah Irwin (Sociology and Social Policy), Dr Susan Kilminster (Healthcare), Professor Karen Lucas (Transport) and Professor Gary Dymski (Economics).
The event is being hosted as part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science.
