Islamophobia workshop with Bristol Student Union

On 13th February, MEND delivered a workshop around islamophobia, Islam and the Muslim community. The workshop touched on the key topical issues of perceptions, a workable definition, fundamentals of Islam and the key causes and cures of islamophobia.

It was heartening to see that SU staff already had a sound understanding of islamophobia and have already actively taken steps to reduce workplace discrimination through policy and other practical measures in the university. The training not only left the impression that there is still an ongoing journey to tackling islamophobia institutionally, but that there are existing avenues and resources universities like Bristol can use, to support and show solidarity with Muslim staff and the student body.
