Thursday 25th January
On the Thursday the 25th of January, MEND North held a fundraising dinner at the Bradford Mumtaz Restaurant. These dinners are an opportunity for communities to see MEND’s work over the year and contribute to future projects.
However this dinner was a little different, as the night started with a comedy set by Tez Ilyas. Tez provided a light hearted start to the night, followed by a serious presentation on Islamophobia and its rise within the UK.
Attendees were astonished by the increase of Islamophobia following the crisis in Gaza. Islamophobic attacks on mosques, individuals in the street and workplace have increased drastically. This highlighted the importance of MEND’s work to tackle islamophobia in all its forms. We would like to thank all that attended and contributed to the event!
