Meeting with the Police Crime Commissioner for South Wales

MEND attended a meeting with Sir Alun Micheal, the Police Crime Commissioner for South Wales , organised by Muslim Council of Wales (MCW) on 28th of March 2018, in response to the appalling letter “Punish a Muslim Day”. According to the PCC, there was no evidence that this letter was posted to South Wales addresses and he gave the local communities assurances that the police will take any hate crimes seriously. At the meeting MEND encouraged the local communities to report these crimes either directly to  the police or to the Islamophobia Response Unit (IRU) and distributed leaflets and tools on how to report Islamophobic abuse.
