Belgium Students Meeting

The Mahara group, consisting of Belgium Muslim students, made a trip to the UK to visit a number of Muslim organisations who are encourage civil engagement. During their week long trip the students made a stop at the MEND office in London. All 3 of our departments (community development, policy research & advocacy and victim support) explained what they do and how that fits into the larger narrative of tackling Islamophobia. The students openly asked questions and left with a better understanding of how they can help empower their Muslim communities in Belgium. It was inspiring to see a group of young Muslims coming together, in a country which has adopted some Islamophobic policies, to tackle the rise of Islamophobia head on.
