Newport is the gateway between Wales and England with rich industrial heritage. Also, Newport is the city where Chartism emerged; a working-class movement calling for political rights in the 18th century and thus many consider Newport as the city of democracy. Newport working group was established in 2017 with the support of a Muslim youth local group and since then it has been active in promoting equal citizenship and political participations amongst Muslims. Inspired by the Chartists’ movement Newport working group has been delivering workshops in media and political engagement as well as organising many events. We would like to reach every part of the city and be part of its democratic heritage. We will not be able to achieve that without you so please get in touch and join Newport Working group.
