The London Regional Manager Mohammad Shoaib was invited to join the debate on “Is Islamophobia a Problem in Woking?” hosted by the Woking Debate Initiative, an initiative put together by local Church and local Mosque groups. One of the key partners are Shah Jahan Mosque, Britain’s oldest purpose-built Mosque est. 1889. Contributions on the night from MEND and fellow Muslim attendees included sharing experiences of Islamophobia faced by the community, followed by a healthy Q&A session with what was a majority elderly white-English non-Muslims, an audience that we rarely have the chance of sharing our discussions with. They all had thought provoking questions with a genuine desire to understand the Muslim experience.
