The Radical Suffragette
Categories: Past Event Articles
Saturday April 28 2018
In 1918, the Representation of the People Act gave the first British women the right to vote and stand for public office. One hundred years on, MEND Cardiff invited women and girls across Cardiff to come and mark this historic moment by organising a movie screening of the Suffragette, followed by diverse women panel discussion. The audience learnt more about Women’s suffrage in the UK led by Emmeline Pankhurst and about the current challenges faced by the diverse women of Cardiff and how can we support and inspire one another.
The Speakers included
Charlotte Lewis: The Welsh coordinator of Processions 2018
Rakiya Mamman: Swansea University politics lectuerer
Hanan Issa: Creative writer and a poet.
Sahar Al-Faifi: MEND regional manager.
The event took place on Thursday 26th of April 2018 at 6pm at CMC@Loudoun, Plas Iona, Butetown, Cardiff, CF10 5HW.
