MEND in Scotland is continually over whelmed by the amazing work that the Muslim community continues to carry out to support all of the Scottish communities as they deal with life in lockdown.
This spirit of support and generosity can be seen from Mosque kitchen in Edinburgh who have been providing meals for all, with a particular focus on individuals who are homeless and destitute.
Mosque kitchen were contacted by Bethany Christian Trust an organisation that support homeless individuals across the capital. They had moved premises to allow them to provide accommodation for people who were sleeping rough during lockdown. However, the accommodation did not have cooking facilities, so they reached out to Mosque kitchen who were closed during lockdown. Mosque kitchen were only too happy to help by providing 55 meals per night to Bethany Christian Trust for their service users.
Mosque kitchen were later contacted by other organisations and individuals who required their hot meals in lockdown. Mosque kitchen and their troop of volunteers are working tirelessly to provide support and a wee helping hand in these difficult times and this is why MEND have highlighted their great work in our Muslim Hero’s project.
