Structural racism & health inequalities mean the coronavirus epidemic is continuing to disproportionately impact BAME communities. The British Government is attacking and vilifying refugees and migrants to distract from its failings. It is also attempting to blame Muslim and other communities for spreading the virus, further fanning the flames of racism and putting even more lives in danger.
On Tuesday 9th March MEND Yorkshire was invited by Stand Up To Racism (SUTR) to deliver a speech at the West Yorkshire wide rally to support the UN anti-racism day which occurs on the 20th of March.
Haris Muhammad, chair of the MEND Leeds working group, attended the online rally and gave a short inspirational speech. MEND was honoured to be invited and we look forward to continue working with SUTR and other organisations to eradicate racism.
