MEND Leicester celebrated International Women’s Day 2021 with a new twist!
The team decided to change the status quo and reach out to Local Muslim Women that have ‘Shattered the glass ceiling’ in all sectors, including professional, political, and community sector.
They organized individual interviews with the speakers, Dr Samira Hassan and Councillor Sharmen Rahman exploring their personal and professional journeys, and how they overcame barriers and challenges to be where they are today. The volunteers created a series of mini videos celebrating the key highlights of the discussions to empower other Muslim Women to take inspiration. The process was truly insightful, fun, and extremely wonderful to hear and see what Muslim Women are up to in our local area.
