Monday June 24 2019
At times when the Muslim communities are being portrayed as backwards, LMRC 2019 sets to be an opportunity for our communities to take back the narrative! To take ownership of what it means to be a British Muslim! To decide how society views the Muslim communities! 300 people attended MEND losing my religion conference (LMRC) in Cardiff City Hall. The conference featured the secretary general of Muslim Council of Wales (MCW) Saleem Kidwai, Linda Sarsour (American anti-Islamophobia activist), Shaykh Yasir Qadhi, Ustath Ali Hammuda and the stand-up comedian Tez Ilyas. The conference explored the concept of Muslim active citizenship, the identity crisis amongst young people and how the rise of Islamophobia contributed to it.
