Leicester Mayoral Hustings

On Thursday 27th April, MEND held an important Mayoral Hustings in readiness for the mayoral/local elections on 4th May 2023.
In attendance were all the candidates bar one. In attendance were; Rita Patel (independent), Parmajit Singh Gil (liberal democrats), Steve Score (Trade unionist and Socialist Coalition), Sir Peter Salsby (labour), Mags Lewis (Green Party). The Conservative candidate Sanjay Modhwadia did not attend.
With approximately 50 people at the hustings event, the candidates responded to topics ranging from the role of the mayor, Islamophobia, community cohesion and council services.
There was a lively discussion between the candidates, and very candid questions and comments from the audience.
