Islamophobia seminar with Race Equality First (REF)

Umar and Rahema, Chair and Vice-Chair of Cardiff Working Group, presented MEND’s Causes and Cures (C&C) presentation to Race Equality First (REF). REF has over 40 years of experience as the recognised lead body in South Wales for tackling discrimination and hate crime.
The C&C was delivered in the REF office and social distancing was firmly adhered to. The REF staff responded very positively to the presentation and said that it increased their awareness around Islamophobia. They asked if MEND would share our statistics on Islamophobic hate crimes so that they can use it in their future casework.
The presentation was a strong example of community networking. Cardiff Working Group plans to continue a close working relationship with REF, with plans for them to deliver training to our volunteers in the near future as well .
