On Sunday 1st November 2020, MEND was invited by JKN Fatawa to present a session on Islamophobia in the UK. Mohammed Abubakar, our MEND Yorkshire and Humber Regional Manager, presented a session introducing Islamophobia and its definition. He then explored the various causes of its rise and existence within the UK. Finally, the session ended with looking at ways that we as individuals, organisations and communities could get involved to tackle the surge of Islamophobia.
In the second session of the webinar, Mufti Abdul Waheed, senior researcher at JKN Fatawa, discussed the moral responsibilities towards safeguarding the welfare of Muslims and combined that with citation of examples from the Prophetic life, as to how we as Muslims can peacefully tackle Islamophobia using the prophetic example.
MEND would like to thank JKN Fatawa for inviting us to deliver a session during Islamophobia Awareness Month.
