#IAM2020 Causes and Cures of Islamophobia Webinar with Newham College

On 4 Nov 2020 an Islamophobia Causes and Cures presentation was delivered at Newham College by a volunteer from MEND’s Central London team.
There were 58 attendees in total, and this was delivered via Microsoft Teams. Throughout the presentation, students engaged with MEND and put forward their thoughts on why Islamophobia was such a problem in society today.
In particular, students identified knowing the limits of current legislation as being very informative; they were not aware that the current negative rhetoric was in fact, legal. Feedback also stated that many had not even known that Islamophobia existed.
Overall it was a successful workshop, and Newham College plans to place posters raising awareness of Islamophobia at the College.
