IAM2018 proved to be one of the most successful Islamophobia Awareness months to date for MEND. Nationally, working groups up and down the country engaged with their local community in delivering a wide and interesting range of events, with the key theme of highlighting the contribution Muslims have made in that particular locality.
In IAM2018, the Central London working group also managed to reach new heights in its local community engagement. For the first time, the working group collaborated with the London School of Economics ISOC, to deliver MEND’s flagship presentation on the Causes and Cures of Islamophobia.
The presentation was delivered on the evening of the 19th of November 2018, with a healthy turnout of students. The content was relevant to students as throughout the presentation both the speaker and audience interacted when different topics were explored, such as incitement to religious hatred against racial hatred as well as other themes.
