MEND were invited to speak at a family fun day organised by Havering’s Muslim community. The presentation delivered was titled “bullied for my beliefs” which helps children and the youth to understand what Islamophobia looks like, how they can report bullying if they see it or are victims of it and how they can have the confidence and knowledge to speak out against those who try to shame Islam and Muslims.
The children were well engaged, asked questions and gave all the right answers to the open quiz at the end. Parents gave positive feedback, expressing they feel reassured that there is an organisation tackling islamophobia which they can turn to in their time of need, in particular MEND’s Islamophobia Response Unit.
