Girlington Muslim Welfare Association invites MEND to its weekly Podcast ‘Our Girlington’

On Sunday 22nd November, Girlington Muslim Welfare Association (GMWA) invited MEND’s Yorkshire and Humber Regional Manager to their weekly podcast. The catchy title of the podcast ‘I AM …’ looked at both the identity of British Muslims and the annual Islamophobia Awareness Month Campaign.
The discussion started off with an introduction to MEND and understanding the aims and objectives of the organisation. The topic quickly moved onto the identity of British Muslims and trying to understand the reasons why the Muslim community is hesitant to get involved in politics and media.
Mohammed Abubakar, MEND Yorkshire and Humber Regional Manager, explained the importance for the Muslim community of getting involved in media and politics and looked at success stories of how even the smallest engagement can make a huge difference.
