With the Greater Manchester Mayoral elections coming up on Thursday 6th May, we spoke to Simon Lepori, Lib Dem candidate for GM Mayor, about his priorities and plans should he be elected.
During our conversation, expertly hosted by Sanaa, one of our Manchester volunteers, Simon discussed his priorities which included healthcare, social inclusion, policing and transport and how these things specifically relate to the Muslim community in Greater Manchester (and the wider minoritized communities in the area). As someone who previously worked as a Nurse, Simon has a particular interest in the healthcare system and how local politics can play a role in ensuring that it is improved to make it more efficient when serving its community.
Many thanks to Simon Lepori for answering our questions, to Sanaa for hosting the conversation and a huge thanks to our numerous volunteers across Greater Manchester who have been working tirelessly during the election period to meet candidates and local organisations to ensure the Muslim community is able to make an informed decision at the polls.
You can catch up on the full conversation here.
We reached out to all the candidates for the Greater Manchester Mayoral Elections so that the Muslim community has the opportunity to ask them questions on their policies.
