Last week MEND’s Yorkshire and Humber Regional Manager delivered a presentation on Islam to the 1st Leven Scout Group based in Leven (the East Riding of Yorkshire) over Zoom. This presentation was delivered in order to help the scouts earn their ‘World Faith Badge’ in which Islam was the chosen religion.
The presentation covered the basic pillars and practices of Islamic faith, places and sites of religious significance as well as days of religious significance in Islam and why they are important. The scouts were amazed to hear some of the interesting facts about Islam, for example, they were told that the biggest mosque in the world, Masjid Al Haram, in Makkah, could accommodate up to 4 million worshippers and is currently undergoing extensions to increase the capacity due to the vast number of worshippers visiting every year
MEND Yorkshire would like to thank the 1st Leven Scout Group for inviting MEND to present to the scouts and their wonderful engagement during the session.
The presentation used for this session was a resource created by Huddersfield Community First, tailored specifically for younger audiences, you can find out more about them here.
