Christchurch vigil

Christchurch vigil

Categories: Past Event Articles

Thursday April 25 2019

On Friday 15th of March 2019, 50 people were shot dead and 48 injured in the terrorist attack committed by a white supremacist, targeting Muslims at two mosques during Friday prayers in Christchurch – New Zealand. The Muslim communities were shocked and horrified. MEND in collaboration with Muslim Council of Wales (MCW) and Citizens Wales, organised a vigil on the same day to reassure the Muslim communities and give a clear message that white supremacists and Islamophobes will never succeed in dividing us.  The First Minster for Wales Mark Drakford, Anna McMorrin (Labour), Helen Mary Jones (Plaid AM), Julie Morgan (Labour AM) and Jane Hutt (Labour AM) spoke at the event reinstating that we all have more in common than differences and all have to take serious actions against Islamophobia.
