Woman arrested after shouting abuse at Muslims attending cemetery on Eid

The Independent and Metro both report on a video showing a woman unleashing a racist tirade towards Muslims visiting a cemetery on Eid.

The video was posted on a local Facebook group, which showed the woman shouting out of a vehicle to a group of Asian men: “F*** off! You f****** P****!”

The 43-year-old woman was filmed in the town of Dewsbury, West Yorkshire when she began her seemingly unprovoked rant.

Additionally, she encouraged witnesses to record the incident, shouting:

“Come on, film me you f****** black c****! You British f****** P****.”

The 29-second clip was published on Friday to the Facebook page of a local group, and has been viewed over 25,000 times since its posting.

Social media users have been critical of the woman, one writing: “Makes me embarrassed to be British…” Another said “She needs reporting to the police. This is shameful and appalling.”

The woman was taken into custody by police later that evening, and was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offense.

Superintendent Roger Essell, of Kirklees District Police, said: “This was an incredibly distressing experience and our enquiries are very much underway to identify those involved.

“The victims were understandably left shocked and upset following this incident. We take a robust stance against any kind of racial abuse.”
