It has been reported that the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) are planning to ban Israel from participating in their leagues over the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
UEFA was reportedly close to enacting the move, but put it on pause following the announcement of Donald Trump’s so-called ‘peace plan’ for Gaza.
The development came after a group of more than 30 legal experts – including officials from the United Nations and groups like Amnesty International – called on UEFA and FIFA to ban Israel from its competitions over the wholesale destruction of Gaza.
