“Dear [insert name of MP or Councillor],
It has come to my knowledge that Sadvhi Ritambhara has been invited to tour the UK, where she will visit various temples, including one in our constituency.. We are deeply alarmed about this and strongly oppose Sadhvi Ritambhra's presence in the UK owing to a number of severe concerns:
• Sadhvi Ritambhara is a Hindutva leader who promotes an ideology of hatred and violence. Religious minorities face significant levels of prejudice and persecution at the hands of India's BJP government, and she has endorsed such actions by publicly calling for the massacre of Indian Christians and Muslims on several occasions.
• She was previously arrested on the grounds of inciting communal violence in the wake of the Babri Masjid’s demolition, which led to the death of over 2000 people.
• Hindus for Human Rights have described Sadvhi Rithambara’s speech as ‘the single most powerful instrument for whipping up anti-Muslim violence in India’.
• Due to her dangerous and hate-mongering views, her attendance at a recent US fundraising event was recently cancelled through the collective efforts of religious communities and advocacy groups.
We are deeply concerned that her presence will jeopardize the present harmony in the UK between Hindu and other communities and believe that her hateful and Islamophobic rhetoric has no place within our multicultural and diverse community.
Considering the above, we urge you to write to the home office to block Sadhvi Ritambhara’s visit to the UK. We also ask you to contact the organisers of the event and encourage them to cancel this problematic activity.
We have no doubt that you will treat the situation seriously and take appropriate action to stop the spread of hate speech. ”
