Genocide Recognition Debate
Wednesday April 14 2021
Al-Nu’man ibn Bashir reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The believers in their affection, mercy, and compassion for each other is that of a body. When any limb aches, the whole body reacts with sleeplessness and fever.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 5665, and Sahih Muslim 2586)
As Muslims living in a free society where we can fast and enjoy the blessings of Ramadan, we cannot ignore the plight and suffering of our brothers and sisters around the world who are not able to do so.
Around one million Uyghur Muslims are being held in “re-education camps” in Xinjiang, China. There are horrific reports of beatings, solitary confinement, sexual abuse, forced labour, torture, starvation, brainwashing, and forced sterilisation.
On 22nd April Parliament will be voting on whether to declare China to be committing genocide against the Uyghur people
It is part of our deen to act now!
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, Allah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever helps ease one in difficulty, Allah will make it easy for him in this world and in the Hereafter… Allah helps the servant as long as he helps his brother.”
(Sahih Muslim 2699)
