Over the weekend, what has been described as the biggest far-right protest in British history took place in London.
The so-called Unite the Kingdom rally, which saw over 100,000 people take to London’s streets, was led by far-right activist and notorious Islamophobe, Tommy Robinson. While right-wing campaigners have tried to claim that the protest was only about “unity” and British “patriotism,” it was largely characterised by unhinged claims that Britain is being taken over by Muslims.
Extreme far-right figureheads from across the world gathered to warn Britons that they face civilisational collapse because of growing Muslim populations. Robinson claimed that, “it’s not just that Britain is being invaded, it’s not just that it is being raped. Every single Western nation faces the same problem: an orchestrated, organised invasion and replacement of European citizens is happening.” Far-right Belgian politician Philip Dewinter told the crows that, “it has to be clear that Islam is our real enemy. We have to get rid of Islam. Islam does not belong in Europe and Islam does not belong in the UK.” Elon Musk also addressed the crowd remotely, where he warned Britons of impending civil war by saying, “whether you choose violence or not, violence is coming to you. You either fight back or die.”
It is clear that the far-right are growing bolder and are becoming more organised. Rather than defuse tensions, influential figures like Robinson and Musk are throwing fuel onto the flames. British Muslims, other minority communities, social harmony and indeed democracy itself, are under attack.

Press the Government to take stronger action against far-right extremism and incitement to hatred.
Reaffirm your commitment to protecting British Muslims and minority communities from discrimination and violence.4. Press the government to review hate speech laws and ensure social media platforms are held accountable for amplifying extremist rhetoric.
It is vital that our elected representatives take a clear stand against those who seek to divide our country and spread fear. Silence in the face of such dangerous rhetoric only emboldens extremists further.
