The UK government has suspended new free trade talks with Israel and sanctioned illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank, citing Israel’s “morally unjustifiable” escalation of violence in Gaza. This follows the killing of hundreds more Palestinians in recent days during a new ground invasion and growing alarm from the UN and humanitarian agencies. Over 53,000 Palestinians have now been killed, including more than 15,000 children. The UN and aid agencies warn of a total humanitarian collapse as 2 million people face starvation, every hospital has been damaged or destroyed and 14,000 babies could die within days if aid continues to be blocked.
Yet as the genocide intensifies, UK arms exports to Israel continue. Between October and December 2024, the UK approved £127.6 million in arms export licences, more than in the previous three years combined. While the government has halted new trade talks, it has not stopped supplying weapons that are enabling Israel’s military assault on a trapped civilian population.
We must demand more. Write to your MP now and call for an immediate arms embargo on Israel and the suspension of all existing arms export licences. We must end the UK’s complicity.
