Friday August 26 2022

On the 12th September, Parliament is set to debate the Bill of Rights (#RightsRemovalBill).

The Rights Removal Bill will remove the rights and protection of the public while increasing the Government’s power to abuse human rights without accountability.

Dear [Name of MP],

I am writing to you as your constituent to express my concern regarding the Bill of Rights, which is scheduled to have its second reading on the 12th September.

Since its enactment, the Human Rights Act 1998 has been a vital instrument for countless victims of human rights abuses and their families to achieve justice.

In repealing and replacing the Human Rights Act, the Bill of Rights will remove human rights protections for the public and increase the Government’s ability to breach human rights without accountability.

Consequently, I urge you to oppose this dangerous piece of legislation.

For more information about the specific problems with the bill, I recommend you read Community Policy Forum’s briefing:

Yours Faithfully,
