Two men charged over mosque attack in Dorset

Local paper, Western Gazette, reports on a further suspected revenge attack after a mosque in Parkstone, Dorset had its windows smashed.

The  Dorset Islamic Cultural Association, which was empty at the time of the attack, had four of its windows smashed by vandals.

ITV News reports that two men have now been charged with racially aggravated criminal damage. Police are still looking for two other men in connection with the incident.

“Robert Mullins, 35, and Trevor Mullins, 38, have been charged with racially aggravated criminal damage following the incident at Ashley Road in Parkstone”, according to the television news report.

Superintendent Nicky Searle from Dorset Police said: “In light of the tragic incident in Woolwich, London, Dorset Police is actively working with all communities in the county through safer Neighbourhood Team officers to address any concerns about safety in Dorset.

“I would like to encourage anyone who sees any suspicious activity to immediately call, in confidence, the Anti-Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789 321, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, or the police by dialling 999.”

Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner Martyn Underhill tweeted a message saying: “There is no room for hatred in our community.”
