The Scotsman and Plymouth Herald report on a teacher and former UKIP candidate who has been suspended from his teaching job following a series of racist, nationalist and anti-Muslim tweets brought him before a professional disciplinary panel.
Ron Northcott, who was forced to resign from UKIP last year when the comments came to light. The National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) professional conduct panel which assessed whether Northcott was fit to practice in the teaching profession said his views were intolerant and lacked respect for people with different faiths.
Panel chair Mary Speakman said: “We find many of the views expressed to be in conflict with fundamental British values.
“Much of the language is inflammatory and abusive. Many of the posts express intolerant attitudes to ethnicity, religious beliefs and nationalities.”
Last month, former teacher and BNP member, Adam Walker, lost his appeal against a lifetime ban on teaching.
