Merseyside Police are currently investigating a chilling anti-Muslim rant that was filmed and posted on social media.
In the video, a man wearing a black t-shirt – and equipped with both a machete and what appears to be a hand grenade – makes repeated threats against mosques and followers of Islam.
Smiling and reaching for the machete, the unnamed man threatens to blow up mosques and details how he would kill and maim Muslims.
In what the man called a “message to Muslims”, he says: “I will get people to run into your mosques” and blow them “off this f****** planet”.
Directing his speech at Muslims themselves, he continues to graphically describe how he intends to kill and injure them.
The original post has since been deleted, however, the horrific video has already been shared widely on Facebook and Twitter, including on anti-hate pages.
Merseyside Police have confirmed that a 39-year-old man from Mossley Hill has been arrested on suspicion of a public order offence.
A second 39-year-old man, from Kirkby, has also been arrested in connection to a separate video, in which a man in an Everton shirt can be seen making comments about recent terrorist attacks and threatening “to take every Muslim out of Knowsley”.
The video also includes racist comments about Asian people, anti-Semitic remarks and abuse aimed at people who defend Muslims.
Both men have been arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred and have been taken to police stations for questioning by detectives.
