The Derbyshire Times reports on a police appeal for witnesses in a suspected hate crime after vandals sprayed the word “Islam” and a Star of David on the grounds of the Chesterfield Panthers Rugby Club.

The graffiti was discovered in a playing area at the club and police are investigating a possible hate crime motive.

The local paper reports the incident took place “sometime between 9.30am on Thursday, January 22, and 9.30am, on Thursday, February 5.”

Anyone with any information about the incident should call PC Kirsty Handby on 101, quoting crime number 5133/15, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
