The Slough Observer reports on the plight of a British Pakistani family who have said they are “living in fear” after a violent assault on their doorstep in the Hunters Way area of Cippenham. “
The family, who asked not to be named, reported an incident of alleged abuse to the police back in May when a female member of the family was racially abused. At the time, the police issued the minors responsible for the incident with a warning.
However, on Tuesday, November 15, at around 6pm in the evening, the family received a ring at the door which the father answered. His wife was indoors with their two children, aged seven and ten.
The man, 40, was racially abused by the group of 13 or 14 year old boys who were on his front lawn. One of the boys then allegedly “smacked the man to the ground with a large stick, with the impact of the fall breaking his arm in two places.”
The teenagers hurled further abuse at the man as he lay in agony on the floor before making off.
The local paper reports the self-employed business consultant required surgery to his arm and he is now unable to work or drive for six weeks.
The man’s wife, who believes the attack was pre-meditated and payback for their reporting the earlier incident to the police, said: “We’re living in fear. Everyday trips are very terrifying, we can never be one hundred per cent sure we are safe.
“Our children are traumatised and afraid to go to school. We really underestimated how far these kids would go, our lives have been turned upside down.”
Police are investigating the assault but have made no arrests.
