Local paper, Bournemouth Echo, reports on an attack on the Bournemouth Islamic Centre and Central Mosque.
The words ‘Muslim scum’ were daubed on the walls of the mosque in red ink on Thursday night in what the Centre’s imam claims was a ‘revenge attack’ after the murder of Drummer Lee Rigby in Woolwich on Wednesday.
Majid Yasin, imam and director of the mosque and Islamic centre told the local paper:
“We have had 800 people here today. They came to the congregation and we talked about this. We reject this violence and we are very upset about what has happened. This is murder – nothing to do with Muslims or Islam.”
Mr Yasin also spoke of a further incident last Thursday where a man rattled the doors of the mosque trying to force his way in. When confronted by Mr Yasin, the man ran off.
Dorset police confirmed they are investigating the incident of vandalism of private property.
