MEND Statement on Buffalo Attack

MEND condemns the abhorrent racist murders of members of the predominantly African-American community in Buffalo, New York, and stands in solidarity with all those affected by this senseless act of terrorism perpetrated by a white supremacist motivated by the hate-filled and largely anti-Muslim conspiracy theory of the ‘Great Replacement’. We further condemn media sources for failing to swiftly label this heinous act of violence as terrorism, demonstrating once again how such a term is reserved primarily for Muslim perpetrators of violence. We urge the relevant authorities and media sources to act accordingly and label such an attack for what it truly is: terrorism.
