Man receives suspended sentence for abusing Muslim at a Tesco supermarket

The Oxford Times reports on the suspended sentence imposed on a man who verbally abused a Muslim male at a Tesco Metro store in Oxford on 8 October, 2016.

Michael Hardisty, 33, admitted racially or religiously aggravated harassment with intent to cause Abdeeq Hussein harassment, alarm or distress. Hardisty appeared before Oxford magistrates court this week in connection with the incident.

Hardisty was sentenced to six weeks imprisonment suspended for 12 months and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115.
