Categories: Latest News

Thursday December 11 2014

BBC News reports on the sentencing of a man arrested after he shouted abuse and assaulted a Muslim woman in Bristol city centre covering her face and headscarf in saliva.

The incident occurred last July as Hasina Khan was making her way to work one morning. Jack Hughes, 26, raged at her about Muslims ‘killing Christians’ in the Middle East before spitting on her.

Hughes appeared at Bristol Magistrates Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to racially or religiously aggravated common assault. He was sentenced to 120 hours community service, ordered to pay £250 in compensation and £85 in costs.
