Man fined for racist abuse in Batley

The Huddersfield Examiner reports on court cases heard at Kirklees magistrates court last week including a case of abuse directed at two Muslim individuals.
Liam Muir, 25, from Batley was convicted of using racially aggravated threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour against Zubeda Begum and Dakhtiyar Ali on April 21.
Muir was further accused of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour at Huddersfield Police Station.
Kirklees magistrates court banned Mr Muir from entering Burnsall Road in Batley for 12 months and imposed a restraining order banning him from threatening either victim or damaging their property. Muir was also fined £200 and ordered to pay an £85 surcharge.
