Man charged in connection with Warrington mosque attack

Monday September 01 2014

This is Cheshire and the Warrington Guardian report on the arrest of a 20 year old man in connection with an attack on a mosque in Warrington town centre two months ago.

The arrest follows the release of CCTV images after the mosque was vandalised on 7 July. The image shows a man about to smash a window of the mosque with a pole while another man is standing in the background.

During the incident, the windows of the Jamiat-ul-Muslimeen mosque were smashed. Initial reports also suggested that Muslim worshippers faced racial abuse before the building was damaged.

Nathan Hancox, 20, was arrested last Thursday and was charged with racially aggravated criminal damage. He has been bailed and is due to appear at Halton Magistrates Court on 16 September.
