Man arrested for suspected hate crime in Asda car park

The Shields Gazette reports on a suspected hate crime at an Asda supermarket on Coronation Street in South Shields at 12pm on Saturday, April 2.
The local paper reported on the arrest of a 40 year old man on suspicion of racial/religious aggravated assault after police were called to an incident that allegedly took place in the supermarket car park.
The paper understands the incident to have “involved an attack on an Asian man.” The local paper further notes that the alleged attack followed “an earlier incident inside the store where a man was verbally abusing an Asian woman and her child.”
