The Jewish Chronicle reports:
‘An anti-extremism campaigner has attacked the Union of Jewish Students and claimed the organisation bowed to pressure from Islamic students by withdrawing an invitation to him to appear in a panel debate. |
‘Douglas Murray, director of the Centre for Social Cohesion think tank, was expected to speak at the National Union of Students conference in Gateshead on Thursday night.
‘But he claims UJS dropped him after the Federation of Student Islamic Societies (FOSIS) refused to share a platform with him.’
Should it come as any surprise to Douglas ‘conditions for Muslims in Europe must be made harder across the board’ Murray that FOSIS should wish to refuse to share a panel with him?
More shocking is the JC’s description of Murray as ‘an anti-extremism campaigner’. Is it the JC’s contention that a man notorious for bigoted views on Muslims should be described as an ‘anti-extremism campaigner’ on the sole basis that his bigotry isn’t leveled against Jews? Can you really imagine the JC describing someone as an ‘anti-extremism campaigner‘ if they had instead said that ‘conditions for Jews in Europe must be made harder across the board’?
