This is Cheshire, the Warrington Guardian and online news site, Warrington Worldwide, all report on the release by Cheshire Police of CCTV images of suspects wanted for questioning in connection with an attack on a mosque in Warrington last week.

The papers note the detail of an image which shows a man taking aim at a window of the mosque with a pole and about to smash it while another man is seen in the background.

The release of the image follows the launch of a police investigation into the incident of 7 July which is being treated as racially aggravated criminal damage.

During the attack, the windows of the Jamiat-ul-Muslimeen mosque were smashed. Muslim worshippers were also taunted with racial abuse but no one was injured.

Sergeant Rob Horton, of Warrington Town Centre Neighbourhood Policing Unit said “Enquiries are still ongoing and we would like to speak to anybody who may know the people seen in the CCTV footage.”

Both suspects are described as white, 16-25 years of age and slim build.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101. Alternatively, information can be passed via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
