Local paper, This is Staffordshire, covers the court case of British soldier, Simon Beech who is on trial on charges of attempted arson. He is said to have plotted with co-conspirator, Garreth Foster, to blow up the Central Mosque in Hanley, Stoke on Trent last December. |
From the local paper:
“A serving soldier who used his Facebook account to call for action to “sort out” Muslims was involved in an attempt to blow up a newly built mosque, a court has heard.
“Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court was told that Simon Beech, 23, was arrested at his barracks six days after the “determined” arson attack at the city’s Regent Road mosque.”
Prosecutor Paul Spratt told the court:
“”Beech plainly felt very strongly about Muslims. He found people on Facebook who had like-minded views. He expressed support for those views. One of the observations he agreed with was ‘Nuke all mosques’.
“”He went on to say himself ‘We need to start taking things into our own hands. They are running the place. It is time to sort them out’.”
“Beech’s views included: “The time has come, they burn our poppies, we burn their place, burn the lot of them out.”
“The court also heard that there had been a search on Beech’s computer on how to make a bomb.”
The trial continues.
