The Independent reports on latest developments in relation to an investigation into the use of crown copyright by far right group Britain First.
The group had previously been investigated by the Advertising Standards Agency for merchandise featuring an image of the Royal Crown and products which bears the image of the Scottish Royal Arms.
According to the Independent, the Metropolitan Police Specialist Operations directorate are investigating if the group ‘breached royal copyright by featuring a depiction of St Edward’s Crown on its official merchandise.’
The paper reports that the far right group used the royal emblem on a controversial leaflet distributed in Rochester, when party candidate Jayda Fransen is standing, encouraging voter ‘to use the election to protest against a new “mega mosque” which BF claims will mean “Medway will be flooded with more Muslim immigrants”.’
