On December 4, a Polish man with a history of depressive illness and alcohol problems drove his vehicle at the owner of a curry house, the Independent reports.

Marek Zakrocki, 48, launched his attack outside Spicy Night, a takeaway in Harrow in north-west London. Zakrocki assaulted his wife, before driving off to carry out his racist rampage. During his attack, Zakrocki made a Nazi salute and pushed an unknown Asian man repeatedly shouting “white power”.

When police managed to speak to him on the phone, he said: “I’m going to kill a Muslim, I’m doing this for Britain. This is the way I will help the country, you people can’t do anything. I am going to do it my way because that is what I think is right.”

As he attacked the restaurant, Zakrocki mounted the pavement as he twice drove at his intended victim, restaurant owner Kamal Ahmed, who saved himself by jumping out of the way.

Upon his arrest, police found Zakrocki in possession of a kitchen knife and baton-torch, as well as a Nazi coin and a stash of Britain First flyers.

The court heard Zakrocki appeared to be “fixated” by Muslims and said he had made donations to Britain First in the past.

Zakrocki was charged with attempted murder before he pleaded guilty to the lesser charges of dangerous driving and beating his wife.

He was remanded in custody to be sentenced on 12 January.
