The Bolton News covers the disruption at a council meeting earlier in the week to discuss the Astley Bridge mosque proposal.
The meeting ended with protestors being escorted from the premises by security and members of the council planning committee made to leave the room as protestors shouted out abuse.
The council had received petitions both in favour and against the planning proposal with 4,867 signatures against the plans and 3,308 in favour.
One of those speaking against the plan at the meeting, Bryn Morgan, said the proposed building was “too large and too ostentatious” and would “make the area look more like Istanbul than Bolton”.
The mosque plans were approved at the meeting by 13 votes to 6.
