Local paper, The Bolton News, reports on a BNP organised protest against a planned mosque in the town’s Farnworth area.
The local council last week approved plans for a replacement building on the site of an existing mosque. The local paper reports on the BNP’s anti-mosque demonstration in the town square and its handing out of leaflets to local residents.
The North West region is the only region in which the BNP enjoys European Parliament representation, after former member Andrew Brons resigned from the party in 2012. With the European Parliament elections taking place later this month, it is not difficult to discern in the BNP’s anti-mosque protest an attempt to boost its standing in the electoral contest.
