The BBC has revamped its Parliament website with the launch of Democracy Live. The new site is an attempt to both open up the workings of parliament to voters, and to educate the public about the work of British political institutions. |
The site will provide visitors the ability to track the activity of up to five MPs, allowing voters to check up on their representatives’ contributions to parliamentary debates.
The site also features a search engine that enables searches through the archive of parliamentary debates and business for specific words and issues.
And at the heart of the service is the innovative ‘speech-to-text’ technology that enables users to jump directly to the point in the video where the phrase searched for is used, rather than having to sit through long passages of parliamentary business to get to the relevant point.
