This is Local London reports on alleged incidents of racially aggravated assault in Walthamstow.

Rumours of a group of Polish men hanging around outside mosques and attacking Muslim females were circulating on social media last week. Police have since issued an appeal for information after two incidents of racially aggravated assault were reported in the Boundary Road area of Hoe Street, according to the local paper.

“The first incident occurred last Friday when an Asian woman was pushed to the ground by a white male. She sustained minor injuries.

“On Wednesday police attended the same road after three white males racially abused an Asian woman”, the paper reports.

Stella Creasy, Labour MP for Walthamstow, has stepped in to quell community concerns stating “I will be attending Queens Road mosque today [Friday] in person to speak with residents and feedback concerns to police following recent events and social media messages.”

The police have said they will maintain a presence in the area and work to dispel false rumours circulating on social media concerning the attacks.

Waltham Forest police ask that anyone with information relating to the attacks in the Boundary Road area contact them on 0208 721 2649 or 101.
